I’m a total victim of sticking my head in the sand like an ostrich when the going gets tough, life gets busier and there is more and more paperwork, phone calls, emails. The inundation of tasks to accomplish on my list of things to do is enough to drive me bonkers. Thankfully, mankind has created something to help poor suckers like me get organized: smartphones and apps. Here are some great apps that will help you stay productive, effective and alleviate some daily stress at work and in your everyday life.

But it can be so difficult especially for spur of the moment spenders. Expensify is an app that can help you organize your finances. Once you pay a bill, take a picture of the receipt for the application and it organizes everything for you into categories. Expensify works as a spending manager and is great for companies that have branches and sellers who spend time on business trips with the company credit card. With the app, employees can scan invoices, receipts and other expense vouchers. The program also generates PDF reports and exports data to Excel, Evernote and Salesforce. This free app is also available for iOS and Windows Phone.

The Podio app allows you to organize meetings more productively by organizing activity flow based on what is talked about when all are together in the group huddle. The app can be integrated with GoToMeeting, which makes scheduling meetings and online conferences a breeze. After the meeting, the Podio app lets you share notes, presentations from the meeting and even assign tasks so that everyone involved knows what to do and track the progress of each participant.

Quickoffice is a free Google application that lets you create and edit documents in Word, spreadsheets in Excel and Powerpoint presentations on your Android phone and tablet. Quickoffice also has access to files on Google Drive, is able to open and view PDF documents and attach files to emails. What’s even more difficult is finding the time to store all of these contacts to your phone. The ScanBizCards uses the phone's camera to scan the cards and allows you to add notes about the contact.
